On Thursday morning, July 16, 2015, just after midnight, St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a wooded area near Jean Marie Street in Reserve for the report of possible drug activity. The complainant told deputies that Jamie Cambre, 38, of Jean Marie Street and Christopher Trosclair, 33, East 15th Street in Reserve might be attempting to cook methamphetamine.

When the deputy arrived to the area, he saw precursors necessary for the manufacture of methamphetamine. Due to the general dangers associated with the investigation of a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory, narcotics detectives were called to the scene for further investigation. As the deputy secured the scene until narcotics detectives arrived, Cambre and Trosclair arrived at the scene. The deputy detained Cambre for the investigation, and Trosclair fled on an ATV. A short time later, deputies located and detained Trosclair attempting to hide under an abandoned house on East 15th Street.

Upon its conclusion, the investigation revealed to detectives that Cambre and Trosclair were in the final stages of the process to produce methamphetamine. Narcotics detectives saw evidence in the wooded area of previous clandestine methamphetamine laboratories.

Due to the volatile nature and hazards associated with methamphetamine laboratories, technicians who are trained in deactivating and neutralizing active methamphetamine laboratories were called to safely dismantle and remove the laboratory and other materials sprawled about the wooded area from previous clandestine laboratories.

Detectives arrested Jamie Cambre and booked him with distribution/manufacture of methamphetamine. He remains in custody in lieu of a $35,000 bond. Cambre was arrested twenty-five times in St. John the Baptist Parish since October 1994.

Detectives arrested Christopher Trosclair and booked him with distribution/manufacture of methamphetamine and resisting a deputy. He remains in custody in lieu of a $36,500 bond and a LA Probation and Parole hold. Trosclair was arrested thirty-six times in St. John the Baptist Parish since March 1999.
