Brendon Nunnery Named LSA Scholarship Winner

Date: May 23, 2019

Sheriff Mike Tregre had the pleasure of presenting Brendon Nunnery with the 2018-19 academic scholarship from the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Association Scholarship Program.

Brendon, a 2019 graduate of East St. John High in Reserve, plans to attend Louisiana State University at Shreveport to study physical therapy. He is the son of David Sampson and Leslie Nunnery. He will receive $500 for educational expenses.

Several applications were received from graduating seniors attending all St. John Parish high schools. Qualities such as academic achievement, leadership, character, and community involvement are considered. Applications were reviewed by an impartial board, and the board then submitted its recommendations to Sheriff Tregre. Applicants must be a permanent resident of Louisiana, use the scholarship for higher education within the state, and be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student.

The Louisiana Sheriffs’ Educational Scholarship Program awards $500 to graduating high school students in parishes where the sheriffs are members of the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Honorary Membership Program. Funding for the scholarship is made possible through the support of St. John the Baptist Parish’s honorary members.

Congratulations to Brandon and all the 2019 graduates.
